Agios Nikolaos is one of those places in Crete that most people will be familiar with. It is a popular area with many tourists, who either stay here or nearby. But the question is whether it is going to be the ideal place for you to stay if you are planning a holiday in Crete.
Agios Nikolaos can be found on the northern edge of the island. Heraklion is off to the west of it and Sitia is much closer in the east. Another area worth exploring is the port. Along its sides you will find cafes and many other similar venues where you can stop and shade yourself from the sun. Refreshing drinks and snacks are available here and you can enjoy watching people moving around the port, going about their business or enjoying their holiday.
The area can be crowded during the height of the summer season, but it is arguably worth visiting all year round. Agios Nikolaus is also a place of many faces, appealing to all kinds of different people for different reasons. So even if you have never been before and you are wondering if it would suit you, the chances are the answer would be a definite yes.
